Bellingham PR & Communications

Introduction

I am a small-business owner with a strong work ethic. My primary duties for BPRC include leading and supporting our team, consulting and assisting clients with corporate communications, developing messaging (voice, tone, feel) for a variety of uses, strategizing PR and communications initiatives, coordinating recruitment advertising campaigns, and providing direction related to branding. I also coach our clients to try new things and keep pushing forward with purpose. I served as a contributing writer for Business Pulse magazine (2020–2021), The Bellingham Business Journal (2012–2015) and have been featured in Today’s Leading Women, Huffington Post and WhatcomTalk.

Matthew Anderson: I joined Bellingham PR & Communications in June 2016. I am primarily a copywriter and editor, writing articles for clients and editing the work of others. My responsibilities also in-clude producing social media content for a variety of Whatcom County companies, helping man-age WordPress website edits, and providing graphic design services for our clients. I earned a master ’s degree in communications and media in Budapest, Hungary, and a bachelor ’s degree in journalism from Western Washington University. For the decade before joining BPRC, I was head of social media and in charge of several aspects of internal communications at WWU. As an adjunct journalism professor, I taught news writing, editing and public relations, and through Western’s Extended Education, I taught representatives of area businesses how to use social media to build community.

Business Description

If you are reading this and wondering whether you should hire a corporate communications team like Bellingham PR & Communications, we have one tip for you: retain the services before there is a critical need.

Proactively retaining a local PR and communications team will ensure that you have the team and the tools you need to communicate with a variety of stakeholders without delay. You’ll also have had time to build consumer and stakeholder loyalty, which can be leveraged in many ways.

The alternative — searching for a communications pro when there is an immediate need — is reactive. In “reactive” mode, you will be rushed in the decision-making process, and you may not be able to work with the PR and communications team of your choice in Whatcom County.

For example, throughout the year — when work volumes are high — Bellingham PR & Communications stops accepting new clients. If you called during those times, we would already be committed to serving existing clients and could not engage or help you with your needs. It is super disappointing for us when that happens, too!

Contracting with BPRC’s team to manage strategic communications on a monthly, recurring basis will position your brand in positive ways; working on a retainer also ensures that you have the team you need when additional needs arise, such as recruitment campaigns, crisis communications, PR planning, etc.
